Ribbon Christmas Trees

In recent weeks I have taken my tatting to some Christmas Fairs, although I have only managed to sell a very small proportion of what I have made. Many of the items are seasonal tatting and so they will be stored away until next year, or be given to friends.

I sort of got hooked on this pattern last year and made quite a few of these trees and did manage to sell four of them to one person today, apparently she is going to hang them on the door knobs of her kitchen cupboards!  The pattern can be found here and I really recommend it to those who have just started making split rings, because after making these trees you will be super good at them!

The latest news from the garage is that all the wood making equipment is being maintained and serviced, it has had rather a bashing in the last few months.  Also there were some shuttle blanks on the work bench when I last looked, so production will be resumed as soon as possible. I hope those who have already received their shuttles are pleased with them.

    1. Agree Elizabeth so clever the way that a simple piece of tatting turns into a beautiful tree

  3. I'm glad you has some sales! I sold all my baubles, hooray. I didn't sell a lot of things, but had some tatting conversations and I think it was worth doing. I have a lot of Christmas 'snowflakes' that I made several years ago that are still lurking. As you say, being seasonal they have a limited window to be sold! It might be time to give them away.

    1. I've seen baubles covered with beads at Fairs but much prefer the ones with tatting around them as they are more unusual, really pleased you sold all yours, now you will have to make more for next year!

    1. Margaret craft fairs are a very hit or miss thing these days, in the past they were really good but most of them are the same old crafts, nothing different. Except of course I have never seen tatting at any of them, unless it is mine!

  5. I was at a craft fair this summer and I was wearing a jewelry set I'd tatted. As I was looking at someone's very nice beaded jewelry stand the artist asked me if what I was wearing was tatted. We ended up having a very nice little conversation about tatting :) I didn't see one single stand with any kind of thread craft there. It was all metal, wood, wire, and a few beadweaving jewelry stands, and those were few and far between. I was just thrilled that someone knew what tatting was and was able to recognize it :)

  6. So Trish when are you going to take your tatting to sell at a craft fair? I admit it is good when people recognise tatting, that is half the delight, they then appreciate how much work is involved in making the items.
