New Earrings
I like to see what earrings people (generally women) are wearing because some of them fascinate me especially the elaborate and colourful ones. Although saying that just simple stylish ones also draw my attention.
Now I do not have pierced ears myself so when Jane gave me lots of clip-on findings I really wanted to have some new earrings. These cross ones were originally for pierced ears and in my stash, I altered the findings so that I can wear them now. It is a pattern I designed and my favourite earrings were a black pair ones, until I gave them away to a young girl who also did not have pierced ears.
Then I looked in my stash of beads and made these
Your color choice on both are great love the tatting most 😃
ReplyDeleteThanks, now have to find something to wear them with!!!
DeleteI love your cross pattern, with the tiny beads! Quite lovely! Your bead earrings are pretty, too! Singapore beads??
ReplyDeleteI believe we may have discussed the fact that you and I are the only gals on the planet who do not have pierced ears! I still think it's a bizarre ritual, and I'm glad I grew up when the stores carried mostly clip earrings! But I wore earrings only starting at 16 and only to church and formal dances - not to school. I did wear earrings a lot in my 'working' years (1962-1985), but now I don't wear earrings at all - except occasionally with my Edwardian-style costumes at our tatting events. However, I have slowly realized that I have never seen any earring or pendant patterns in Victorian/Edwardian tatting books! I'm thinking they never made or wore tatted jewelry! I think it is a more 'modern' idea - but starting when??
In any event, pierced earrings suddenly outnumbered the clips, and all of a sudden very young girls were wearing small pierced earrings all the time - even with sports clothes!
Thanks Kathy, actually none of the earrings have beads from Singapore in them - anyway just have far too many beads in my house!
DeleteYes I seem to remember that we have had the 'pierced ear' conversation before! It does seem unlikely that there was tatted jewellery in Victorian/Edwardian times, I guess it would more likely be tatted collars, however if that is the only time you wear them, then why not?!
Love your earrings, I am sure you will get a lot of compliments on these. I especially like the color of the tatted ones.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bernice can't wait to wear them!
ReplyDeleteI like your cross earrings! I don't wear earrings either, not having pierced ears, and I must say I've never seen clip on findings in Spotlight here.I suppose, because I don't wear them, I haven't really made more than a couple of pairs, and they weren't successful.
ReplyDeleteFabulous earrings!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the crosses!!! :) I also do not have pierced ears(had them for 6 months and tons of infections so I let them close up).
