Craft Evening

On Monday I organised another craft evening for adults.  Lots of different items to create using wood, string, material, paper and card.  Here are a few examples that I prepared before the evening.









The hedgehog is made from an old book









There were actually seven very different items to create,  I will show you what people achieved at the end of the evening in the next post.

    That would be a fun time! I remember making Christmas trees out of old Readers Digest magazines back in the 70s, way before I learned anything useful!

      Diane you can make some amazing things with magazines and books, a bit repetitive though!

    The hedgehog is amazing, but at some deep level I am uneasy about destroying books for any purpose. Readers Digests don't count, Diane, turning them into hedgehogs would be appropriate!

      Maureen I agree but the books I am using have been put in book sales etc and no one wants them (outdated and yellowing!) so seem to think it is better to give them a purpose rather than be thrown away.

Renulek Doily finished

I finished this doily a few days ago but I am actually not that happy with it, the thing is the  piece really needs damping, blocking and a good press.  This should not be needed but I think some parts of the pattern did not work that well.  I have used three makes of thread on this doily Manuela, Coats and Lizbeth all 20.

St. Andrews and Advent Giveaway

Today is quite special for many reasons it is Advent Sunday in the Church.  Advent is a term from the Latin word 'adventus' which means "arrival".  It is a time of waiting for the arrival of Christmas and is associated mainly with Advent Calendars and in particular the fun of opening to see what is revealed behind each number!  Whilst in Scotland the people are celebrating St. Andrew's day as he is the Patron Saint of Scotland.  Google has marked the day with a doodle of the Flying Scotsman - the world famous steam locomotive.
