A Winner!

I ignored those who did not want to be entered into the giveaway and just put in the number of comments and used a random number generator and the winner is ................. I'll tell you later, you will have to read a bit more before I give the announcement!!   My intention was that the chance to win a free gift was to be given to keen tatters who regularly visited my blog. However, because of  "Craft Gossip" it sort of went "viral!"  Still at least I have a few more followers, a very warm welcome to you if you have just joined my blog.

Also some of you did mention in your comments about the fact that if you won, whether I would post to other parts of the world. I am more than happy to do this when offering a giveaway especially as most of my followers live in other countries.

I found the butterfly on this blog, this is the only way I can acknowledge the designer, as I was unable to comment on the blog either.  It is rather pretty and was relatively quick to make.

Okay I will put you out of your misery!

The winning number came out at 11 and that is Elizabeth, please could you e.mail me on popabobbinshuttle@gmail.com  - many congratulations.

Whilst I was in America last year people were very generous and here is an amazing tatting  bag that Diana made and a shuttle that she blinged.  Sue Anna handed them over to me whilst at Tat Days.  Lelia mentioned her bag in one of the comments this is what she said, to save you trawling through them all! "My favorite gift was an origami bag / pouch made by Diane (Lace Lovin' Librarian) as I have used it nearly every day since I've owned it! I may even need to replace the draw string cord."

It was great hearing about all the amazing gifts in your comments, thank you for sharing.

My next task is to start Jane's TIAS which I might get around to later today.

Finally thank you to everyone who entered this giveaway.   As  I write more popabobbin shuttles are being made in the garage.  When they are ready I will inform you.

  1. Grats to Elizabeth :)

Your bag from Diane is absolutely beautiful, I love the little things she makes, they are always so creative in my opinion, and I absolutely love the colors :) And your butterfly, How pretty!!! There are so many butterflies out there, but after a while they seem to look similar to me, and either are too big or all really tiny, this one is right in the middle, and your stitches are per normal, perfect!

    excellent job :X

    1. Thanks Bree, yes you are right there are a lot of butterfly patterns out there, but this one works out to about 2 1/2" x 2", a really nice size

  2. Congratulations to the winner! I like your butterfly. I'm intrigued by the blog link though. Some of those patterns are from the Anna Burda magazine, I have them in my files, and I'm sure the motif with the doodad in the middle is Fox's? I don't see any acknowledgement of source there, or am I missing something?

    1. Jane I also spotted Fox's work, but not understanding the language makes it difficult to know what is happening on the blog. Perhaps someone else can enlighten us?

  8. The language is Italian, so far, it says the patterns are free, and here are tatting diagrams , things like that, I haven't found any diagram for Fox's pattern so far, but I have not found any link to Fox, her blog, or any mention of her or where this person got the image from. I am going to keep looking, and I am going to write to her also... if she did snag Fox's and didn't give credit, she could have done it to the other diagrams, I know I have seen some of these before, but don't know where. Any thing on the blog that says CHIACCHIERINO is tatting, in fact, this word means tatting.

  10. Hi Sally

Very pretty butterfly. What thread did you use? I really expected that you would be able to read the blog language straight off as I imagined that you are a linguist as well as an accomplished lady in so many other areas.

We had a sprinkling of snow overnight, which wasn't forecast until tonight. Oh well, the sun is now up so will, hopefully, melt it all away ready for tonight's dollop!

    1. Oh no not a linguist Anne, absolutely hopeless at languages.
The thread I used is Lizbeth Carousel and I have a love/hate relationship with it, depending on what it is used for I either like it or don't like it!

  12. I forgot to say thank-you for doing the giveaway. I didn't enter because I already have too much stuff. I always hope the giveaways end up with someone who wouldn't be able purchase the giveaways.

  13. I hope at least one sycamore without a hook is going to make it to the listing. The current hooks are a little small for the size 20 I usually use, and I'd like to add one...assuming I can be quick to click!

  14. The thread doesn't always look that pretty when tatted up, just got lucky with this butterfly!
Yes please do use some very fine sand paper running it inside. I don't use a post shuttle myself so really not sure of the right tension. When testing the shuttles we (the garage man and myself) have a few arguements about this, which usually ends up with me asking him "who is person who can tat in the house?" You do not want to be around when I am testing any of the shuttles he makes!!!

  15. Hi! I use to do a lot of tatting. I have a nice collection of shuttles that was collected over years from antique shoppes. I never see any vintage ones anymore for sale. So am glad I have these. I love many types of handwork and know I will do some more tatting before too long. Love your pictures and tatting, beautiful!!!! The blog is wonderful.
