Elegance!
Sadly I only sold one pair of earrings on Saturday at the Christmas Fayre and that was a Christmas wreath pair. Such a shame as I spent days before the event frantically making square shaped earrings which are now put away in a box, unless I can find people who would like them. The main problem was that there was poor attendance at the Fayre and those that came were not really interested in purchasing tatted items.
But for a change some of my tatted brooches sold. However, none of the necklaces that I have just made went including this one. Mind you it looks more like a bridal set than just for every day wear!
Will show you some of the other necklaces soon that I have made using the beads that came from Singapore. Apart from this one I will probably wear the others myself.
It does look like a bridal set. It's gorgeous! If I could wear earrings, I'd buy a bunch from you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane!
DeleteOh no! I don't understand, those earrings are so lovely! My sister has a theory that if things are underpriced, people don't buy either, under the assumption that what you have is 'junk'. You certainly don't , but I wonder if that's it. Market this set as a bridal set, raise the price a bit and I bet it will sell. ( but remember I'm the one with tea lights that don't sell, so what do I know?). This set is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI rather think your sister is right and my sister would also be in agreement. However, it is nice to be able to offer affordable hand crafted items to people, but obviously they do not appreciate that fact. I did not really expect this set to sell but thought it would attract attention - but it didn't.
DeleteIt's a shame there is little interest in purchasing tatting - this set is just beautiful. The 'right' people just weren't there!
ReplyDeleteOh definitely Cindy the right people weren't there, basically they were looking for bargains and very very cheap items.
DeleteWhat a shame. This does look rather bridal, it would sell in another venue , it's lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane - it is a matter of finding the right venue with the right people!
DeleteI'm sorry to hear the sale didn't go very well. That's the problem with craft shows, not knowing what will sell and stocking up the wrong things. I used to crochet for a local sale. I would make a lot of small cheap things, but also a few large stunning pieces.Sometimes friends at work would buy the leftovers. The rest became gifts or back in the box for next time.
ReplyDeleteThe necklace is really stunning. I know someone will love it once it finds the proper owner.
Thanks Martha it is an unpredictable market
DeleteThe bridal set is gorgeous. Loved the square earrings also. Try selling them next year. Im sure they will sell.
ReplyDeleteThanks - I'm not going to give up trying to sell them - because I want to make more!
DeleteI think any craft fair is unpredictable. I've heard knitters and crafters talk about selling lots of one item at one then none of the same item at another. It can be disheartening. But, your work is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks StringyDogs
DeleteThe white could also be worn on New Years. Lovely tatting.
ReplyDeleteGood idea Bernice.
DeleteSally, what a lovely set, a shame they didn't sell, you'll be able to enjoy wearing them now. How about putting them on Etsy?
ReplyDeleteAnne I am seriously thinking about using the internet to sell jewelry, thanks for the prompt
DeleteI agree that they might have been too fancy for that particular fair. They would make a stunning set for a bride! Is it your own pattern? Wonderful design! I'm glad your brooches sold! Etsy does sound like it's worth trying!
ReplyDeleteYes it is my own design Kathy, and yes I am going to try selling over the internet.
DeleteThanks
Oh this is beautiful! and I had to say something and from the reading< your own design it is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteMaravilloso el conjunto ,me encanta ,feliz domingo
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous set!!! :)
