Pop-a-bobbin shuttles for sale

As Christmas is on the horizon and before the weather became too cold to work in the garage, more shuttles were made and have been transported to Jane,  some have been sold but the rest will be in her Etsy shop in the next few days.  Here is her blog 







This is a picture of a Tulip Wood shuttle placed on top of a tree.  The tree has birds in it made from different woods, one of which is of course Tulip Wood.



The full list of woods left to right clockwise are, beech, Yellow heart, Pink Ivory, Purple heart, Bocote, Snakewood, Tulip, Ebony, Sycamore and Ash.

    I have a lot of those woods. He is so talented at woodworking. Love the shuttles, but you know that.

    Such an attractive tree, I don't know how you can part with it. You'll have to 'order' another one, for Christmas, where the bird part can be used as a table top - for your tatting of course!

      Yes it was difficult to part with Anne, I have other versions of the birds in a tree but not as good as this one.

Renulek Doily finished

I finished this doily a few days ago but I am actually not that happy with it, the thing is the  piece really needs damping, blocking and a good press.  This should not be needed but I think some parts of the pattern did not work that well.  I have used three makes of thread on this doily Manuela, Coats and Lizbeth all 20.

St. Andrews and Advent Giveaway

Today is quite special for many reasons it is Advent Sunday in the Church.  Advent is a term from the Latin word 'adventus' which means "arrival".  It is a time of waiting for the arrival of Christmas and is associated mainly with Advent Calendars and in particular the fun of opening to see what is revealed behind each number!  Whilst in Scotland the people are celebrating St. Andrew's day as he is the Patron Saint of Scotland.  Google has marked the day with a doodle of the Flying Scotsman - the world famous steam locomotive.
