I missed seeing this post until today! It's wonderful to see all four together! It makes me smile just to look at them, and a relief because I know what a difficult project this was. They really are adorable! I'm sure they will be appreciated! I hope you learn how they will be used.
I finished this doily a few days ago but I am actually not that happy with it, the thing is the piece really needs damping, blocking and a good press. This should not be needed but I think some parts of the pattern did not work that well. I have used three makes of thread on this doily Manuela, Coats and Lizbeth all 20.
Raindrop No 3 petit is the name of this motif which Karen kindly linked from her blog to a Japanese blog . I could not resist having a go at tatting it and decided that adding a button in the middle really made a difference, but as you can see the addition has made it slightly larger. I have some more thread at the ready to tat another one, but again it will be different to these. Over the last few months I have missed tatting with beads so feel that the next one might need a little bling!
As I write this I notice that Renulek has posted the last row of her Spring Doily. Just when you feel that you have caught up, another row cleverly appears and the challenge continues. Other tatters have such pretty colour combinations as they continue to tat their Spring doilies, but my aim was so use up old thread so as to reduce my stocks and I will tell you more about that when I have actually finished this doily. Oh yes and try and make sure another one gets completed too! Just before the doily challenge I received a request to tat some more thistles which were to go with wedding invitations. Here they are on a Harris Tweed scarf which my friend gave to me after a visit to Scotland. These thistles are now in Australia
Wonderful cats!!!! :)
