Mixing threads
Here are a few snowflakes that I have made by tatting with two threads wound together.
Just love how they have turned out .
I have used 40 white or coloured thread together with these sewing cottons
This is what happened when I scanned the snowflakes, the colours seems to have been washed out of them!
I intend to use them for decorating Christmas cards.
Really pretty. Interesting, I’d have expected the white to dominate more. What size is the white thread?
ReplyDeleteThe white thread is 40, 20 would probably work but as you say might loose the glitter effect with a thicker thread
DeleteVery pretty! I have plenty of thread to play with, so I really should give hand-wound threads a try!
ReplyDeleteIt really is fun playing with different threads and matching colours together you get some very interesting combinations, please do give it a try, worth the effort!
DeleteWhat fun snowflake thread! It always takes me 2 or 3 scans to figure out what settings my scanner needs. I'm usually tatting as I scan so the experience doesn't devolve into frustration. Good luck with your scanner!
ReplyDeleteI used to scan all my tatting but now think a photograph is just as good since phone cameras have improved massively. This was a scanner at work so did not have time to fiddle around with it!
DeleteI love these little beauties is that tiny split rings around the edges of them?
ReplyDeleteyes tiny split rings, it is a clever pattern, one of Jane's of course!
DeleteGreat idea, Sally. To increase the glitter effect, you could possibly use two metallic threads with the No. 40 cotton --> three threads.
ReplyDeleteOh Judith that is a good idea as I have plenty of different metallic threads, thanks very much. Watch this space!!!
