Ah yes it is, I watched some of president Biden's inauguration on television yesterday. Actually whilst finding a place to put these new pieces I discovered some of last years tatting which I could not find before Christmas!
There are many reasons I have not kept up this blog, one being that I have to now recover the email that was originally used to set it up, so not exactly sure if any comments will be seen or recovered. The other is that I keep up numerous facebook accounts (other groups) plus twitter and instagram so not much room in my life to blog! However, a comment from Maureen on my sister's blog has prompted me to post the dress we have each bought and how we have embellished it with a bit of tatting.
One of the churches in the group I minister in has joined 'Small Pilgrim Places' it is a network of churches around the country which stay open in the day time. They encourage people to come inside and rest for awhile soaking in the atmosphere, a quiet haven of peace from the busy world outside. This particular church was recorded in the Doomsday book of 1086 and is situated on a hill with a marvellous view of the countryside. In order to welcome visitors I have left some tatted butterflies for them, it will be interesting to see how quickly they go and how many people take more than one! This is the church that also has three doves sleeping in the porch, so you have to be careful not to stand directly under them! Having had an extremely bad start to the New Year with regard to doing any handicrafts I have at last picked up my shuttles again.
As I said in my last post I had another idea for a design and this one is very seasonal, and yes as Jane McLellan said there is a huge gap between the original idea and the final product, but I don't find that gap fun at all! I have worked on this particular idea all week between preparing for Holy Week and children's activities, and also having a massive Spring clean in certain areas of the house. I even spent hours removing wood dust off the freezer washing machine and surrounding areas in the garage, when 'Im in the garage was out, you have no idea what mess he makes in there to produce shuttles! So the result is these two button eggs, well I hope you recognise them as such! I showed the first one to several people but did not say what it was supposed to be and they all said it was a pendant. I was rather deflated at that, but how would they know what I was trying to design? I then came up with the second button egg. So which one should I run with?...
2021 is starting out quite exciting for us! Congratulations on finishing your give-away pile. Now to find a good place to store them!! Good luck!
