Today is the Feast of Epiphany and so I thought it was a very good day to offer a few gifts of my own. Although may I ask you kindly to enter if you are a regular follower of my blog or comment regularly. Sorry to put this restriction on the giveaway, but I do want those who genuinely would like to win the shuttle to enter and not people who try their chance for the sake of it. So please comment if you would like to win the pop-a-bobbin shuttle and the box at the same time adding your favourite all time gift, but it has to be an object and not a person! The shuttle is made from plum cherry and this is what it looked like before it was worked upon. Also the shuttle is unvarnished, sometimes this helps to show up the colours better. However, there are times times when the varnish enhances the grain. Now the other side of the shuttle. Last night I went to a 'Pies and Punch' evening to celebrate Epiphany and won this oil diffuser, for those ...
In England we mark this day with bonfires and fireworks, although as the years have gone by it is less and less observed. The reason we are called to remember the 5th November is that on this day in 1605 Guy Fawkes was caught in the cellars of the Houses of Parliament, London with several dozen barrels of gunpowder. Guy Fawkes was subsequently tried as a traitor with his co-conspirators for plotting against the government . Which is the reason why a 'Guy' is made by stuffing newspaper into some old clothes to look like a man and then it is put on the top of the bonfire. Remember, remember, the 5th of November The Gunpowder Treason and plot; I see of no reason why Gunpowder Treason Should ever be forgot. So if you have stopped reading this blog by now you will not have realised that I am holding a 'giveaway' to mark this my 300th blog post, a day to remember for me and possibly you! This is what you will win when you comment giving one thing that you will remember...
Please will you celebrate with me my 150th blog post. However, I am sorry to say there will be no shuttles to give-away this time as I'm in the garage has been making a toy for himself rather than concentrating on tatting shuttles, boys and their toys! So instead I am giving away this bag and Welsh Love spoon. If you want to know about Welsh Love spoons go to this link , notice this spoon has a carved heart and a cross. Around the bag is sewn a length of tatting called Nelson and designed by Orsi . This is what the bag looked like when I purchased it. It does seem to be a different colour but the sun must have been shinning on the day I took the photograph, it really is the same bag. I took off the bow and then attached the tatting and the buttons. Also my sister Jane Eborall was with me when I purchased it from Stratford-upon-Avon. To make the give-away a little more fun and to enable you to win the bag and spoon you have to guess ho...
